HYPNOTHERAPY

Combining Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Karen Lo Greco uses this technique to gently guide the client to deal with the past, so that life can be fully lived in the present. Hypnotherapy is a much shorter term process than other psychological therapies and often beneficial changes are seen within a few weeks.

Hypnotherapy works by sifting through the negative conscious mind and bypassing the critical messages it sends out. Through this method, you will feel peaceful and calm. Old patterns, habits and behaviours can be shifted once the root of the source has been uncovered. This allows for positive suggestions and new patterns of behaviours to be implemented into the client’s life. Using carefully developed scripts, Hypnotherapy may allow for emotional, spiritual, behavioural and attitudinal changes to take place.

Hypnotherapy is a term with Greek roots that translates to “sleep.”

It enables the therapist to induce calm, bypass the conscious mind, and gain access to the powerful subconscious. Our repressed memories, emotions, and forgotten childhood events are kept in the subconscious, functioning as an archive.

Therapeutic Community Care is a group of professionals dedicated to thinking “beyond the box” and providing the best possible training and service. We take pride in being unique not only because we use complementary therapies like hypnosis and EMDR but also because we are passionate about using all the resources available to support each client’s progress.

WHY ADD HYPNOSIS TO THE TREATMENT?

When administered by a mental health professional, hypnosis is a very powerful addition to more conventional therapy. It can aid clients in letting go of destructive behaviours, promote optimistic thinking, and offer treatment for various mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, and eating disorders.

Hypnotherapy is supported by data and has statistics when used with other therapeutic modalities. Hypnosis has consistently produced better client outcomes when used with conventional therapy than conventional therapy procedures alone.

An analysis published in 1995 in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology included 18 research comparing the utility of hypnosis as a supplement to treatment. It was proven that “the addition of hypnosis greatly boosted treatment result,” with the typical hypnosis client exhibiting improvement above at least 70% of non-hypnosis clients.

THE WAY WE WORK IS INTEGRATED

Hypnosis is merely one of the many types of coaching we use in our sessions, despite the fact that it is helpful to incorporate into the therapeutic process.  Notably, all of the aforementioned studies endorse using hypnosis as a supplement to therapy, not as a substitute for it. Therefore, this is also how we practise in line with the research and the standards that we, as psychologists hold ourselves to.

In our sessions, we use a variety of therapy techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy (EMDR). Each therapist has a unique way of incorporating their underlying form of therapy into the session and tailoring the treatment to address the presenting issue best.
